Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in, breathe out.

I’ve been doing a lot of yoga these days. So much so that I bought a 3-month membership to a yoga studio. I don’t even have that much money so this is clearly a deeper need than I’ve given credit to. Church is free, you know? You can get your cup filled there every Sunday at 8 and 10:45 AM. …if that’s your cup of tea anyway.

I’ve found that I am most peaceful doing yoga. It is the one thing that has been tethering my sanity to the earth. For one hour, I am asked to breathe in and breathe out, to stretch and then stretch a little deeper, and to endure the heat and the pain within. Otherwise, I’ll fly away and get lost in the harsh winds of time, just like Dorothy getting whisked away to Oz. Sometimes I get distracted by my mind and I must re-mind myself. whoah “re mind”. Cool word there. I remind myself to return to focus and center my breathing. The fucking airplane pose is coming up and if I don’t lock in I am going to wibble wobble and topple on down into my own personal puddle of shame. The only person with hate in that room is me, and it’s aimed at myself. Lock in. Breathe in, breathe out. It’s only you and you are here to be led and to focus.

If you knew me, you’d know I’m an excitable kind of character. There’s a lot that can stir me up and get me going. Once the lightening starts, it takes a while for the storm to calm down, or just someone telling me to shut the F up, you’re annoying, you imp. I love this energy though, and I think other people like it too, given the right setting. Funnily enough, after yoga, the electric feels like the quiet hum from a laptop or the purr of a cat on your lap. It’s so soft. It’s unbelievable. Normally when getting my shit rocked during a workout or hike, I sit down, exhausted, amazed that I’m still alive, and getting high off of the endorphins. Instead, I’m just buzzing and happy like a little baby who has no thought in the world. I drive home practically unconscious, just breathing in and out.

It’s a damn good feeling. I’d highly recommend hot yoga to anybody, except pregnant mothers. It would not be good for you or your baby.

Peace, love, and dove, friends and family. See you soon, hopefully.
